Nevis – 30m² One-Bedroom Cabin
Designed and built by Darren, this compact cabin showcases quality craftsmanship and efficient use of space.
The 4.0 x 3.5m living area opens seamlessly to a 4.2m deck through large sliding doors, creating a bright and open living environment.
A separate 4.0 x 3.4m bedroom offers privacy and comfort, making this design ideal as a self-contained sleepout, rental unit, or secondary dwelling.
Every detail is constructed to meet the New Zealand Building Code, ensuring long-term durability, comfort, and value.

Built for the 30 m2 Rule
Each cabin is designed to meet New Zealand’s 30 square-metre “sleep-out” exemption — no kitchen, no bathroom, no plumbing required — so you can position it without a full building consent (check with your local council).

Our Process
1. Design & Model Selection — Choose your preferred layout or custom width/roof pitch.
2. Build — Constructed in our Central Otago yard under Aye Build supervision with full QA/QC.
3. Delivery — We coordinate transport, siting, and setup.
4. Handover — You get a completed, ready-to-use cabin — no kitset headaches.
For an additional cost, we can also arrange for Aye Build Ltd to complete the foundation or site preparation works on your property — ensuring your cabin is installed safely, level, and ready for use.

Unlike mass-produced kitsets or imported sheds, each Crafted Cabins NZ build is engineered like a real home — not a garden box and suitable for harsh Central Otago winters.
We design and construct using the same structural standards applied to residential buildings, so your investment lasts decades, not seasons.
Our cabins feature:

• Colorsteel roofing and wall cladding built for the Central Otago climate
• Fully insulated floors, walls, and roof cavities

We build stock models ready to roll — not pre-sales. That means you can see exactly what you’re buying before you commit.

• Base shell: from $67,000 NZD
• Lined & insulated: from $89,000 NZD
• Premium fit-out (ready to furnish): $120,000 – $200,000 NZD

F.A.Q.
Common questions regarding our Crafted Cabins
– Underfloor insulation is intentionally not installed before the cabin leaves the yard.
– This allows for accurate installation of structural connections between the site-installed
foundation and the off-site manufactured cabin.
– It also allows any on-site plumbing and electrical services to be properly connected into the
cabin prior to insulation being installed.
– Once all foundation connections and service connections are completed, underfloor insulation is installed either after placement or immediately prior to final positioning, depending on the foundation type.
– Underfloor insulation is priced separately and may be supplied only for owner installation if
preferred.
Because the cabins are 30m2 they do not require council consent.
Yes, all CraftedCabins are built by qualified, experienced NZ registered Builders under the NZS 3604 standards.
Yes, while we have some standard options, we can also cater to any specific design requirements you may have in mind.
